A Tumblr wish
I wish there was a box in Customize > Advanced for adding customized HTML to header and footer of the page, so I could switch themes quickly without adding scripts like Analytics, etc. manually. Am I too lazy? Or is it there already?

Loosely organized initial thoughts on the iPad
marco: A lot of writers and journalists are expressing disappointment in the iPad because it didn’t live up to its insane hype. What’s most interesting to me is how unsurprising most of the launch was. Most of us had some crazy ideas. John Gruber wanted Apple to reinvent mobile computing. I wanted Apple to reinvent portable input mechanics and novice usability. I think a lot of other people...

How to Build Your Dream →
azspot: In the age of democratized industry, every garage is a potential micro-factory, every citizen a potential micro-entrepreneur. Here’s how to transform a great idea into a great product. 1) INVENT Stop whining about the dearth of cool products in the world — dream up your own. Pro tip: Check the US Patent and Trademark Office Web site to ensure no one else had the idea first. 2) DESIGN...

iPad predictions are over, now to iPad bashing
Well, finally the iPad is out along with a new (minor) SDK. I’m sure everybody was sick to their stomach with all the predictionomania. Now, we have many people (just check Twitter) nay saying about almost everything, perhaps the same people who were nagging about the 1st generation iPhone at the beginning. Sure Apple’s hyper-marketing is as loud as always, but the iPad (apart from...

– This is a wonderful article from Mike Rundle, looking into the thinking behind how realistic user interfaces are crafted. The advice and techniques are invaluable, whether you’re designing software or creating a website. He also provides a downloadable PSD with a few of the examples in action. ...

Re: Apple vs Google – Benevolent Dictatorship Vs... →
I disagree with comparing 20K slaes of newbie NexusOne with 1.6 million sales of veteran iPhone. It’s just not fair. But it is true that dictatorship works better (sad, but let’s face it) in many cases. Apple’s strict policies are pain in the … for developers but result in better apps (some might argue) and happier clients in general. We’ll see how Google’s...

History is Bound to Repeat Itself
benjaminstein: I get secret joy out of watching people speculate about upcoming Apple products.  What amuses me is that people have a really hard time innovating themselves, and more importantly, a hard time believing that Apple can innovate. Of the thousands of predictions about the Tablet/iSlate, they pretty much all boil down to two possibilities: a MacBook running OS X without a keyboard or...

marco: Alex Payne, in Don’t Be A Hero: If someone is working at four in the morning, something is deeply wrong. Figure out what’s broken and delegate the work out evenly across your team such that it doesn’t happen again. Don’t pat your hero on the back for “pulling another late-nighter”.
