iPad predictions are over, now to iPad bashing

Well, finally the iPad is out along with a new (minor) SDK. I’m sure everybody was sick to their stomach with all the predictionomania.

Now, we have many people (just check Twitter) nay saying about almost everything, perhaps the same people who were nagging about the 1st generation iPhone at the beginning.

Sure Apple’s hyper-marketing is as loud as always, but the iPad (apart from the -kinda’ cheesy- name) is really a cool device. A camera would be really nice and at least a USB port, although I think it’d need more changes in the SDK, could save the day.

All said, just consider the whole new range of possibilities with the new iWork ‘10. No mobile device of that dimension had ever had a full productivity suite. And everybody is already excited about iBook and a bigger multimedia-friendly screen.

This device can be that secondary lifesaver machine where most of the time (flying, meeting, classroom, etc.) you can stay connected to the world with a decent device with 140,000+ apps and a great productivity suite. Something between mobile and laptop maybe?

For me if I have an iPhone, an iPad, and a MacBook, that iPad could fill a huge gap in my average day especially on the couch when I’m just browsing and going through Twitter and other social sites. No cpu fan noise, no extra heat on my laps and (hopefully) 10 hours of battery life. Well worth the $500.

Finally, we all know Apple will bring more cool features in the next generations and this one will help us for now to start thinking out-of-the-box already. Just remember the first few weeks of iPhone debut when your Blackberry/Nokia seemed so unbreakable and now after 3 generations of iPhone, what do most of us carry in our pockets?
